PII invites all undergraduate students to submit original research abstracts or full research papers analyzing a current refugee problem and proposing a solution to the problem. Selected participants will present their research at the annual PII Conference.

Some of the possible areas related to refugee problems are listed below but this list is not comprehensive

Elected participants will present their research at the PII conference and attend a weeklong international trip to visit a country affected by a crisis causing its citizens to seek refuge in other countries including the US.


The submitted abstracts and papers should have the following sections:

  1. Abstract:

Submitted abstract should be limited to 500 to 750 words, and include the following:

    • Problem
    • Relevance
    • Proposed Solution
    • Impact
  1. Introduction
  2. Existing research, policies, procedures, and methods in place
  3. Your contribution or proposal
  4. Results if applicable or Predictions
  5. Conclusion
  6. Credits
